ClayTech Pumps Management System Released

At the Mostra Convegno in Milan, Italy, the technological rage was inverter technology for domestic pumps. This technology is set to revolutionise the control of pumps right down to the smallest size and application.

Why use an Inverter?

At present, most domestic pumps are controlled by an on/off controller. That is, when a tap is opened, the controller senses the need for water and starts the pump. The pump runs at its maximum speed and is restricted only by the friction loss across the tap. An inverter, on the other hand, controls the speed of the pump by adjusting the frequency dependent on the demand. This means that the pump will run slower when the tap is only partly opened. This means lower energy consumption, longer pump life, and less noise. Inverter technology to control variable speed pumps is widely used in Industry particularly in irrigation applications.

The Mostra Convegno is the largest Plumbing Exhibition in Europe. It is held in Italy every second year. It is at least 10 times bigger than any undercover exhibition held in Australia.

The Inverter technology is tipped to replace the conventional on/off controllers in domestic applications. Although they have huge benefits, there are still improvements to be made in economics and technology to make them a household appliance.
